Bath Academy – Supporting the achievement of every student
Founded in 1997, Bath Academy is a small and specialised tutorial college in the heart of the world heritage city of Bath (this video shows you how special Bath is). As a co-educational, international boarding and day college for students aged 14-19, our programmes include GCSEs, A-Levels, Resit & Revision Courses, University & Medical Foundation Courses, and English Language Support.
A Personalised Education
Bath Academy specialises in tailoring academic courses to the individual needs of students to maximise their chances of applying successfully to high quality university courses. Our students progress because their courses of studies are individually designed – building upon their existing strengths – to meet their unique needs.
Exceptional Support
All students are guided in identifying realistic university and career plans through in-depth psychometric assessment and individual guidance interviews. Each student has a Personal Tutor who further supports them in their personal development and in making informed decisions about their future, as well as UCAS Advisors to assist with the university application process.

Diverse & International Community
The college accepts up to 120 students each year and welcomes students from all types of backgrounds and from all over the world; 70% of students are from the UK and 30% are international. As a non-selective school, we do not admit students on the basis of academic ability, but on their motivation to learn.
Resit Specialists
As one of the only Resit colleges in the area, Bath Academy is renowned for its value-added achievements. Resit students improve by two grades on average, with many students surpassing all expectations and making a six-eight grade improvement across two or three A-Levels.
Quality of Teaching:
It has been our experience that students develop when they receive good quality feedback on their performance with advice on how to improve at each stage. Teaching takes place in small groups or one-to-one to ensure that students and tutors work closely together and regular exam practice enables our students to recognise their strengths and weaknesses and set themselves realistic and challenging goals.
Unique Location
Bath Academy consists of two college buildings in a central city location on one of the most beautiful squares in this safe and quiet UNESCO World Heritage city. Students have easy access to all the city’s attractions including museums, galleries, shopping, cafes, and many green spaces. Our boarding house is only a few minutes walk from the main college buildings.

cife Scholarships
A-Level student Tatyana achieved a remarkable three A*’s last year and gained a place at the University of Bristol to study Philosophy & Politics. Tatyana received the Lady Perry Award to recognise outstanding academic achievement in the face of adversity.
One-year A-Level student Arthur achieved a six-grade improvement and has gone on to study Mathematics at the University of Durham. He received the College Award for his contribution to college life.

Sophie has had a very challenging journey over the last six years. In September 2009, aged 12, she was prescribed a common medication and suffered a severe reaction resulting in chronic fatigue, dizziness, involuntary shaking and difficulty in walking. She was often unable to attend school and missed most of her teaching during year 10 and 11 and took her GCSE exams at home. When she started at Bath Academy, she was unable to take more than a few steps unaided and the quantity and timetabling of her lessons had to be carefully managed. Sophie studied A Level English Language and Literature, French and History. This was a huge achievement and testament to Sophie’s grit and determination to manage her condition and forge an independent life and career for herself. Sophie is now enjoying reading History, Philosophy and Ethics at Bath Spa University.
Before coming to Bath Academy George Merison (pictured receiving his Award from CIFE President Lord Lexden) had spent a year in the Utah desert and in Western Samoa, where he undertook a number of character-building experiences. However, this meant that he needed to complete his A Levels, which he did in just over a year.
