Over the last 70 years, our three CATS schools in the UK (CATS Cambridge, CATS Canterbury and CATS London) have developed three distinct educational experiences to fit the many different needs of our students. We are therefore rebranding our three CATS UK schools, to better showcase the unique student experience and the separate school communities our students and staff are so proud to be a part of.
From the 12th October 2022, CATS London will be renamed to Guildhouse School.
Recently Mr James Slocombe, Headmaster of Guildhouse School, represented the school at the Houses of Parliament at a special event at the House of Lords organised by CIFE, the Council for Independent Education. The event was hosted by Lord Lexden OBE and Colleges in the CIFE group were invited to nominate one student to receive a special College award. Our nominee was Ye Nay Htet (Henry), who’s colleagues will remember studied on the Fast Track 5T A Level Programme. Henry is now reading Applied Medical Sciences at University College London.

Unlike traditional boarding schools in the UK, everyone in a Guildhouse School class is in the same situation – away from home, needing help to acclimatise, wanting to make new friends and committed to improving their English rapidly. Everything we do is aimed at helping you achieve this, from teachers who know how to adapt lessons to build confidence in English to house parents who provide care and concern during your stay.
Our campuses offer single and double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms in purpose built accommodation, because we know if you are comfortable and relaxed in your surroundings you will flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Throughout your time with us, you will be treated as a young adult. Our house-parents are available 24 hours per day to provide the support and nurturing you need to thrive.
Whatever your aspirations are, we offer a wide range of programmes and subjects that will help you progress. You will receive one-on-one guidance on applying to university. You will visit a range of campuses, attend workshops to help you perfect your personal statement and receive individual support such as interview practice.
In addition, you will have access to a range of activities through our Key Professions Programme to help you get a head start in a competitive career.
We’re proud to report that Marwa Almadhi received a 2017 CIFE Award this April for her exceptional contribution to life at CATS London. She received the award from CIFE President Lord Lexden at a ceremony in the House of Lords.
Marwa was one of her year group’s outstanding academics and achieved four A grades at A level in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. She was also awarded an A for her Extended Project Qualification and won a place at University College London to study Biomedical Sciences. She wins this year’s CIFE College Prize not only for her academic achievements but also for being a highly responsible, articulate, caring and determined individual who contributed fully to life at CATS College. She was well respected by her teachers and her peers and was voted Student Leader, a role which enabled her to engage with staff and represent students across a range of issues that affected the College community.
